TBNUK celebrates the authentic music and rich traditions of Northern Ireland in a special series of Sacred Harmony, filmed on the beautiful Northern Irish landscape. Weekly episodes begin on Tuesday 15th November at 10pm.
Hosted by Simon Lole (choral director, composer, and broadcaster), with guest, the Very Revd John Mann, each episode will explore the myths and legends that find their home in Northern Ireland, from the shores of Strangford Lough, to the walled city of Derry. Enjoy the range of stunning architecture and nature’s beauty, as the team visit a different location in every episode – including Giant’s Causeway, and Belfast Cathedral. Hear many classic hymns written by Irish songwriters (such as ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’) plus discussions on pivotal moments in history: the ministry of St Patrick, the Catholic and Protestant conflict, and the civil rights movement.
Each episode contains Bible readings, musical performances, and an encouraging reflection from the Very Revd John Mann. In the final episode, he shares:
“Advent is a time of anticipation. It creates a period of looking forward that asks lots of questions and leaves us to supply the answers. Questions such as: ‘Why do we find the prophecies of Isaiah so uplifting?’, ‘How can John the Baptist really inspire faith in us?’, ‘Why is Mary perfect for the mother of Jesus?’ One could go on. We create through thought and prayer, through Bible reading and music, a beautiful tapestry of familiar threads to a simple but profound truth; God in Christ has become human.”
Tune in on Tuesday 15th November at 10pm.
Repeats: Wednesdays at 5:30pm, and Sundays at 12:30pm.
