Max Lucado is a very familiar face on TBN, hosting many a Bible study series based on his own books, including “Unshakable Hope”, “God Came Near” and “Jesus in the Storm”. Max also appears on TBN’s Praise programmes.
Max Lucado, a pastor, speaker, and best-selling author known for his approach of “writing books for people who don’t read books,” serves at Oak Hills Church in San Antonio, Texas. His message is simple yet powerful: God loves you; let Him.
Max’s books, totaling over 145 million copies in 50 languages worldwide, regularly top bestseller lists, including The New York Times. Beyond books, his writing appears in various mediums, and he received the 2021 ECPA Pinnacle Award for his remarkable contribution to the publishing industry.
Max’s journey from a small town in Texas to becoming a beacon of hope began in Andrews. Raised by an oilfield mechanic father and mother who was a nurse, Max, once rebellious, credits Jesus with transforming his heart and steering him away from a potentially destructive path.
After earning degrees at Abilene Christian University, Max ventured to Miami, where he served as an associate pastor and began his writing journey in the church’s newsletter. This experience fueled his passion for people and ministry. In Rio de Janeiro, Max and his wife, Denalyn, helped plant churches, and the newsletters he wrote during this time formed the basis of his first book, On the Anvil.
Max and Denalyn, now based in San Antonio, Texas, share a life dedicated to following Jesus. They have three grown daughters, three sons-in-law, and two grandchildren.
