Reverend Wilfredo De Jesus, affectionately known as Pastor Choco, serves as the Senior Pastor of New Life Covenant Church, one of Chicago’s fastest-growing congregations.
Born and raised in Humboldt Park, Chicago, his future seemed limited until, at 14, he unexpectedly worked at a neighbourhood church’s day camp. His encounter with youth passionate about Jesus led him to accept Christ as his Lord and Saviour. For over 20 years, Wilfredo remained with the same church, eventually becoming Senior Pastor in July 2000. Under his leadership, the church has expanded from 120 to 17,000 attendees globally, reaching diverse ministries and aiding the disenfranchised, including the broken-hearted and gang members.
He is also the founder of New Life Family Services, overseeing a homeless shelter for women with children. TIME magazine recognized him in 2013 as one of the “100 Most Influential People” globally. Wilfredo, also a published author, resides in Humboldt Park with his wife Elizabeth and three adult children.
